Former chief minister Narayan Datt Tiwari’s son Rohit Shekhar and his wife Ujjawal were seen at Congress headquarters in the national capital amid speculations that he is likely to join the party ahead of upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. However, Shekhar clarified that he went to meet people associated with his later father.
According to reports, they also met UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi.
“I have met them (Sonia and Rahul Gandhi) several times in the past, but it should not be seen in political context,” Shekhar said.
Shekhar, an advocate by profession, came to limelight in 2008 when he went to court against Tiwari claiming he was born out of an affair between the Congress leader and his mother.
In 2012, Tiwari – who had quit as Andhra Pradesh Governor after a purported video of his sexual escapade was leaked - was forced to give samples of his DNA for a paternity test after warnings by the Delhi High Court. The court had even authorized the police to enforce its order if needed. Following which, the former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh moved to Supreme Court against the test but failed to stop it.
