Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity remains intact as people of Bihar feel that he is the perfect candidate for the top job, predicts News Nation opinion poll. During the poll, staggering 46 per cent of the respondents of Bihar said that Narendra Modi is their preferred choice for the prime ministerial post in 2019 and Congress president Rahul Gandhi was at distant second position with 28 per cent.
The other important outcome of the opinion poll was that BJP-led NDA is likely to grab 27 out of the 40 seats in the state, while the UPA - which comprises RJD, Congress, HAM, RLSP, VIP, Sharad Yadav’s LJD and the three Left parties – CPI, CPI(ML) and CPM - may grab 12 seats.

According to the poll, issues that people of Bihar will keep in mind while voting are - unemployment 24 per cent, inflation 24 per cent, PM candidate 16 per cent, corruption 6 per cent, local candidate 5 per cent, law and order 4 per cent, agrarian issues 4 per cent, Ram Temple 4 per cent and others 13 per cent.
During the poll, 77 per cent of the respondents opined that the Indian Air Force's surgical strike on Jaish-e-Mohammed's Balakot terror camp across the Line of Control (LoC) will benefit the Modi government in the polls. The IAF conducted a massive air strike after the terrorist attack in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir in which 40 CRPF jawans lost their lives.

47 per cent people said they are satisfied with the NDA government's performance in the state, while 50 per cent feel the BJP-led NDA government is doing well at the Centre.
When asked about whether Modi government giving a befitting reply to Pakistan, over 56 per cent voted in favour of the BJP while 30 per cent said it has failed on the issue. On the controversy over the Rafale deal, 44 per cent people feel that Rahul Gandhi is levelling baseless charges on the Modi government, while 43 per cent said that the allegations are correct.
Also, 55 per cent people said decision to reserve 10 per cent seats for weaker sections in general category will benefit the BJP in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.
