With 2019 Lok Sabha Elections just a few months away, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its poll campaigns all over India. With Misson South in mind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has now reached Tamil Nadu's Tiruppur, where he has addressed a massive public rally and also inaugurated a string of developmental projects. Those welfare projects include a 100-bed Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) health facility, a new integrated building at Trichy Airport and modernisation of the Chennai airport.
Besides, Modi has also inaugurated the last leg of the Chennai metro rail's blueline and declared six underground metro stations via video-conferencing. The entire 45-km-long section of the Chennai metro will be connecting AG-DMS with Washermanpet. Chief Minister K Palaniswami, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam and Governor Banwarilal Purohit were also present at the inaugural ceremony of Chennai Metro's passenger services on Sunday.
The prime minister also dedicated BPCL Ennore Coastal installation- state-of-the-art and fully automated oil storage and distribution facilities, with a project cost of Rs 393 crore and a crude oil pipeline from Chennai Port to Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited's Manali refinery.
Early in the day, Modi addressed another rally in Andhra Pradesh's Guntur as part of his visit to three southern states. Following his address in Tamil Nadu, Modi will fly to Karnataka's Raichur to complete his Mission South ahead of crucial General Elections 2019.
