Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday thanked Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav for his ‘blessings’ ahead of the Lok Sabha 2019 elections. “This house scrapped more than 1,400 laws. There was a jungle of laws. This is a good beginning, much more is to be done…And, Mulayamji has given his blessings for the same,” said PM Modi in the Lok Sabha on the last day of 2019 Budget Session.
“I want to congratulate PM Modi for taking everyone together. I want to say that every member should win again and you (Narendra Modi) become prime minister again. (PM ko badhaai dena chahta hun ki PM ne sabko saath lekar chalne ki koshish ki hai. Main kehna chahta hun ki saare sadaysa phir se jeet kar aayen, aur aap (PM) dobara pradhan mantribanein),” Mulayam had said in the Lower House.
PM Modi had acknowledged his praise with folded hands when Yadav was making his statement in the Parliament.
Ruling alliance members heartily cheered Yadav with chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ as he praised PM Modi for "making efforts to take everyone along".
During his speech PM Modi took potshots at Congress president Rahul Gandhi over hug and wink. Mein pehli baar yahanaya, bahut si cheezein jaanne ko mili. Pehli baar mujhe pata chala ki gale milne aur gale padne mein kya antar hai. Pehli baar dekh raha hun ki sadan mein aankhon se gustakhiyaan hoti hain.”
Meanwhile, Congress president Rahul Gandhi said that he totally disagrees with Mulayam Singh Yadav’s remarks on Modi that he should become Prime Minister again. “I disagree with him. But Mulayam Singh Yadav Ji has a role in politics and I respect his opinion,” Gandhi said while addressing media persons at AICC headquarters in the national capital.
