Prime Minister Narendra Modi sleeps only three-four hours a day and works for the rest of the time. During campaigning in the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections, he hardly gets time to eat anything. When asked his eating habit, the prime minister told News Nation that he prefers having homemade food and he always carries them while traveling.
"Most of the time while traveling, even when I have to travel by air, I try to carry food from home. The two things that I carry with me are liquid 'moong' and khakra (dried roti) ... so in 90 per cent cases, I eat what I carry with me," PM Modi said while talking exclusively to News Nation's Deepak Chaurasia and Peenaz Tyagi. "I love simple and non-oily food but it's not in my nature that I will demand something specific. I don't have much knowledge of the food menu," he added.
PM Modi also explained that he is not particular about any food and only routine he follows is having tea twice a day - one in the morning and then in the evening.
"I like to drink tea at 5 in the morning and 6 in the evening. Other than that I don't need tea," he said. The prime minister also said that he has very little knowledge about food and whatever knowledge he has it only because of Union Minister Arun Jaitley.
"Whatever knowledge I have about food is because of Arun Jaitley as he used to take us for dinner when I was working in Delhi," the prime minister said. He said that he never bothers about calories while eating because of the hectic work schedule he has to follow. "I don’t put my brain in that. I work so much, I don’t need to think about this," he said.
When asked about does he know how to cook, the Prime Minister said he can prepare all kind of meal. “I used to help my mother, so I know how to make round rotis,” PM Modi said.
