Rajasthan Opinion Poll: BJP likely to get 16 seats, Congress to bag remaining 9 in Lok Sabha elections

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is likely to win 16 Lok Sabha seats in Rajasthan in the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha polls, predicted News Nation Opinion Poll. The BJP had made a clean sweep in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in the state winning 25 seats. The Congress drew a blank that time. However, the BJP is still ahead of the Congress in Rajasthan in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The Vasundhara Raje-led BJP has just lost the Assembly elections at the hands of the Congress party. However, the Congress had won two seats in bypolls that were held in 2018. Congress candidate Raghu Sharma had defeated BJP's Ramswaroop Lamba in Ajmer. Congress candidate Karan Singh Yadav had won the bypoll in Alwar by defeating BJP candidate Jaswant Yadav.

In terms of vote share, the opinion poll predicts that the BJP will get around 40 per cent votes of the total votes in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, a sharp decline from 2014 when it received 55.61 per cent of vote share due to Modi wave. The Congress would get 35 per cent vote share. In the previous General Elections, the Congress was completely routed and had received only 30.73 per cent of votes. It must be noted that the ruling party of the state seems to be losing its vote share as compared to the 2018 Assembly elections. The Congress got the vote share of 39.3 per cent and the vote share of the BJP was 38.8 per cent. In terms of seat share, the BJP was reduced to only 73 seats and the Congress got 99 Assembly seats.

It must be noted that the vote share of the BJP was 45.17 per cent in the 2013 Assembly elections and the Congress had garnered only 33.07 per cent of votes.  However, Narendra Modi remains the most preferred prime ministerial candidate with 47 per cent voting for him and 31 per cent voting for Congress president Rahul Gandhi in the poll.

The other question that News Nation asked the people during the survey was the biggest issue which they will keep in mind while voting for the upcoming poll to which 15 per cent people voted for inflation. Corruption (12 per cent), unemployment (16 per cent) and demonetisation-GST (8 per cent) are some other important issues which people of Rajasthan will consider at the time of voting.

Despite losing the Assembly elections last year, 43 per cent people feel that the BJP is the party that can address their issues. The Congress is at second position with 39 per cent people favouring it. However, 52 per cent of them are happy with the Congress government in the state and 42 per cent said that they are not happy with the government.

49 per cent people of the state are satisfied with the PM Modi-led NDA government at the Centre and 37 per cent expressed their dissatisfaction with it. When asked whether the Modi government is giving a befitting reply to China and Pakistan, 48 per cent of people in Rajasthan said 'Yes' and 40 per cent said 'No'. During the opinion poll, News Nation found that 45 per cent people are of the opinion that development has been the Modi government's prime focus. When asked 'will 10% general caste quota decision going to benefit BJP?' 51 per cent people said 'Yes' while 35 per cent said it will not benefit the government.

The most important thing is that 42 per cent people found substance in Rahul Gandhi's allegations against the Modi government over Rafale jet deal and 40 per cent found it baseless.
