Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has courted row for making controversial remarks against President Ram Nath Kovind. Addressing a rally in Jaipur, Gehlot reportedly said that Kovind was made the President of India due to certain ‘caste equations.’ The Rajasthan Chief Minister and senior Congress leader claimed that Kovind’s nomination was influenced by the Gujarat Elections. “I believe Ram Nath Kovind ji was made president keeping in mind caste considerations and Advani ji lost the race,†Gehlot was quoted as saying by news agency ANI. The BJP slammed the Congress and its leader for making casteist statement against the President. Addressing media in New Delhi, senior BJP leader GVL Narsimha Rao said that, “We appeal to Election Commission to give a notice to Ashok Gehlot and to give a directive that no political party should make a remark critical of the President of India.â€
