New Delhi:

In a heart-winning move, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday broke his security protocol to shake hands with his supporters who had arrived from across different parts of Telangana to take part in his Huzurnagar rally. The Gandhi scion also took a firm stand against police brutality after they resorted to lathicharge to disperse a crowd trying to cross the barrier to catch a glimpse of him.

With just 10 days left for 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday was on a whirlwind visit to Telangana, addressing three election rallies at Zaheerabad, Wanaparthi and Huzurnagar. Before leaving for Zaheerabad, the Congress president also met senior party leaders and candidates in the state in order to formulate strategies ahead of Lok Sabha Elections 2019 later in the month.

Addressing a public gathering in the state, the Congress chief assured the youth to help in setting up business, adding that they will not require any approval for the first three years. Gandhi said his party will spend six per cent of GDP on education if voted to power in 2019.

Coming down heavily on KCR-led TRS government in the state, the Congress leader said, "Your chief minister supports note ban, GST. The remote control is in Narendra Modi's hand. Did your chief minister raise the Rafale deal issue? Did he ever say 'Chowkidar chor hai'?"

"When you vote for TRS, you are voting for Narendra Modi and the RSS-BJP. Don't waste your vote," Gandhi added.

Congress in Telangana is facing a crisis with 10 among its 19 MLAs announcing their decision to leave the party and join the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) ahead of General Elections 2019.

All the 17 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana will go to polls in single phase on April 11. The seven-phase Lok Sabha Election is scheduled to take place between April 11 and May 19. The counting of votes for all phases will be taken up on May 23.
