Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad walks out of live interview when asked about poll promises

Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Monday walked out of a live interview when asked about the polls promises made in Bharatiya Janata Party’s manifesto. The Union Minister was asked about the inclusion of the saffron party’s much-touted promise on Ram Temple, removal of Article 370 of the Indian Constitution and Uniform Civil Code among many others.

The question irked the minister, who said, "If you talk to me properly, only then I will answer your questions. If you are a senior editor, then I am also a senior politician of this country. If you indulge in loose talk with me, then I will have to say namaste to you."

The Union Minister objected to the questions of the anchor and said that the BJP has made 75 promises in its manifesto yet he was asked about a selected few on which he seemed not interested in answering. On this, the anchor hosting the show said that he will come to all the questions if he was willing to answer.

On Monday, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had released its manifesto for 2019 Lok Sabha elections. In its manifesto, the BJP did reiterate its 2014 promises on the construction of Ram Temple, the Uniform Civil Code but the issues were not included in the party's 75 key promises. Interestingly, the BJP had made the same promises in its 2014 manifesto but failed to fulfill them. And when the anchor pointed out this, the Union Minister got upset and decided to walk out.

Meanwhile, the anchor kept on saying that he will also talk about the other promises the party has made for farmers and requested him to join the debate. However, the minister didn't return to the show for the further debate.
