Haryanvi singer Sapna Chaudhary on Sunday said that she won’t contest elections but continue to campaign for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She also emphasised that winning Delhi Assembly polls is BJP's ultimate goal.
"Winning Lok Sabha Election doesn't mean we have achieved our goal...We need to win Delhi Assembly elections," the former Bigg Boss contestant said.
Chaudhary, who campaigned with Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari during Lok Sabha Elections, said that she will campaign for the party because she likes Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"I will campaign with Manoj Tiwari and the reason is that I like Modi ji....so I will campaign for the party," she said.
During the Lok Sabha elections, Chaudhary campaigned in constituencies having a sizeable number of Jat and Purvanchali voters and in rural pockets of northeast, northwest Delhi, south and west parliamentary constituencies.
Chaudhary had met Tiwari ahead of Lok Sabha Elections triggering speculations about her joining the BJP. However, she is yet to officialy join the party.
After a picture of Chaudhary with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was tweeted by Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Raj Babbar, there were reports about her joining the Congress, which the singer had denied, saying the picture was old.
"I have not joined the Congress party. My pictures with Priyanka Gandhi are old, as I have met her many times in the past. These pictures are old. The biggest issue is that I have not joined any party," she had said.
