Sreesanth, who has been making headlines every day with his power-packed stint on the Bigg Boss 12 show, saw him reflecting on his days of agony. The controversial Indian cricketer narrated his spot-fixing ordeal in the popular Bigg Boss show revealing how he was accused of a crime falsely for taking a bribe of Rs 10 lakh to do spot-fixing.
For those who cannot recall the incident, Sreesanth was accused of match-fixing along with Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan and a lifetime ban on the players was imposed by the BCCI. Once considered as one of the finest pace bowlers in the Indian cricket team, Sreesanth along with 36 others were accused in the spot-fixing case. All other players were let off by a Patiala House Court judgment in July 2015. Despite this, BCCI refused to lift the ban on Sreesanth that left him scarred deeply. Â
On a recent episode of the show hosted by actor Salman Khan, Sreesanth revealed that he was accused of match-fixing for Rs 10 lakh. The former cricketer shared a heart-felt experience proving his innocence. While Sreesanth was acquitted in 2015, he said that the period was a haunting experience for him. This incident took him by shock and the cricketer found himself on the verge of depression. Falling from the great heights he achieved, the cricketer watched his career crumble to bits. This tormented the former cricketer and made him consider committing suicide at that time. The revelation left the housemates shocked and moist-eyed. Watch the tweet here:
Sreesanth vented it out by saying that he is banned from entering any cricket field in the world. The cricketer shared his aching experience and said, “Even if my children ever become cricketers, I would not be able to see them play or support them. It’s devastating.â€Â Sharing this anecdote with fellow contestants, Sreesanth was seen breaking down multiple times.
Sreesanth's better half Bhuvneshwari Kumari has written a heartfelt open letter stating how a false accusation can ruin a person's life.
Bhuvneshwari, in her letter to the BCCI, wrote that Sreesanth didn’t give any freebies to the batsman in the over but it was the quality of batsman Adam Gilchrist.
Sreesanth played for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League when he was accused of spot-fixing in 2013. After the controversy came into light, Rajasthan Royals terminated his contract. The former cricketer’s wife claimed that cricket was always the priority for Sreesanth and money was never a consideration. The cricketer has acknowledged in many interviews that his wife, Bhuvneshwari stood by him through this dark phase and it helped him bounce back in life.
After his cricket career ended, the cricketer delivered the same aggression at the gym building a bulky and muscular gait for himself. After sweating it out at the gym, he embarked upon a career in Malayalam films.
With a controversial past, the cricketer-turned-actor is expected to give the housemates and his audience a chance to know him better. However, Sreesanth has managed to survive the sword of eviction this weekend and we just hope he sticks to his promise of not walking out of the show again.
