Irrfan Khan on battling cancer: Two years from now or eight months or four months

New Delhi:

Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan, who was recently diagnosed with a high-grade neuroendocrine cancer, has shared his dreadful experience of battling with a life-threatening disease.

Sharing a news article on his Twitter that carries his letter from the hospital, Irrfan said the sudden diagnosis of a rare cancer made him release the magical side of life and the realisation made him surrender himself irrespective of the outcome.

“As I was entering the hospital, drained, exhausted, listless, I hardly realised my hospital was on the opposite side of Lord’s, the stadium. The Mecca of my childhood dream. The suddenness made me realise how you are just a cork floating in the ocean with UNPREDICTABLE currents! And you are desperately trying to control it,” Irffan said in a letter to the Times of India.

“This realisation made me submit, surrender and trust, irrespective of the outcome, irrespective of where this takes me, eight months from now, or four months from now, or two years,” he wrote.

The ‘Life of Pi’ actor said that the high-grade neuroendocrine cancer, which he was diagnosed with, was a very rare cancer and the results of the treatment were unpredictable as it was a “trial-and-error” game.

“It’s been quite some time now since I have been diagnosed with a high-grade neuroendocrine cancer. This new name in my vocabulary, I got to know, was rare, and due to fewer study cases, and less information comparatively, the unpredictability of the treatment was more. I was part of a trial-and-error game,” the Bollywood star wrote.

This was the second update on Irrfan’s health. Earlier in May, film director Shoojit Sircar said that Irrfan was doing fine and will be part of his new biopic Udhan Singh.
