Kerala Police has arrested seven people in the molestation case of Malayalam actress Bhavana including the main accused Sunil.
Bhavana had alleged that she was kidnapped and molested in her Audi car.
It was reported that her driver Martin and his associate Sunil abducted her while she was returning back from the shoot in Ernakulam district in Kerala on Friday night.
While the police has begun the investigation, they have taken six more people into custody apart from the main accused.
"Some people have been taken into custody. We would be able to talk about their role in the incident only after a proper verification", a top police officer told a leading daily.
Police had deputed its various teams to places including Coimbatore in search of at least six more culprits involved in the crime.
Kerala DGP Loknath Behera has constituted a special investigation team to probe the case, following widespread condemnation of the incident.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said the gang members involved in the crime have been identified and they will be arrested very soon.
ADGP B Sandhya also assured that the investigation is in progress in the molestation case.
As per the media reports, the young actress had alleged that she was molested in the running car and was also threatened with dire consequences by the accused.
"For about one hour she was in the car with them and they kept driving and later around 10.30 pm she was dropped near the place where she lived," a source told a leading daily.
Reports also suggested Bhavana was molested in the running car and was also threatened with dire consequences by Sunil and Martin.
A woman judicial magistrate has taken her statement about the incident. Police had also taken her for a medical examination at a hospital near Kochi.
Police suspect that blackmailing was the motive behind the crime.
