Naam Shabana collection: Taapsee-Akshay starrer gets moderate opening

Taapsee Pannu's recent release 'Naam Shabana' has got a moderate response from the audience on its day of release and made a collection of Rs 5.12 cr on its first day.

The movie, which one of the most anticipated movies of the year, witnessed an average occupancy of 15% in the morning shows. However, the media reports suggest that the occupancy was picked up in the evening shows.

Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh took it micro-blogging site Twitter to share the box office report of the movie and wrote that the movie is rising because of Akshay Kumar's star power.

He wrote, " gets a boost due to Akshay's star power... Evening shows fare better... Fri ₹ 5.12 cr. India biz."

'Naam Shabana' is the prequel of Akshay Kumar's much successful 2015 release 'Baby'.

However, in comparison to 'Baby', this recent release has failed to create the impact on the audience which might be visible on its box office collections.

If the media reports are to be believed, 'Naam Shabana' won't be able to beat the first day collections of 'Baby'.

Interestingly, despite the mixed reviews for the storyline, Taapsee Pannu's performance was quite appreciated by the audience.

It is expected that 'Naam Shabana', which was released on 2100 screens across the nation, might witness a jump in the weekend.

Also starring Akshay Kumar in cameo along with Danny Denzongpa, Manoj Bajpayee, Prithiviraj Sukumaran in key roles, 'Naam Shabana' was helmed by Shivam Nair.
