Days after Indian cinema icon Sridevi was cremated, with thousands of mourners jostling with each other to catch a single glimpse of her cortege, Bollywood diva Priyanka Chopra remembered her special bond with the legend.
In remembrance of Sridevi, Priyanka has penned a heart-touching eulogy, sharing a few beautiful moments, she spent with India's Chandni.
Being extremely emotional Priyanka wrote in Time magazine, "She was my childhood, and one of the big reasons I became an actor. To refer to all of us as mere fans would be a disservice to her. When the news first broke of her passing, I was immobilized."
"All I could do then was listening to songs from her films, revisit her interviews and watch her iconic scenes over and over again. I knew I was not alone; millions were feeling that exact emotion of shock and loss. Her connection with the audience was so strong that each one of us has special memories linked to her," she added.

"She left us too soon. My last memory of her is a red-carpet moment last December. In the frenzy of flashbulbs and whirring cameras, she pulled me into a tight hug and spoke lovingly and excitedly about her two daughters, Jhanvi and Khushi. Her family was her life. She left me feeling warm and fuzzy, and with a promise to meet again," an emotional Priyanka wrote in her article.

Sridevi, the first female superstar in Bollywood, breathed her last due to accidental drowning in the bathtub on February 24 and created a huge void that cannot be fulfilled anytime soon.
On the personal front, Sridevi tied the knot with filmmaker Boney Kapoor in 1996. She is survived by her husband and two daughters Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor.
Janhvi Kapoor is expected to make her Bollywood debut opposite Ishan Khattar this year.

Sridevi, who was last seen in 2017 crime-thriller Mom, will be next seen posthumously in Shah Rukh Khan's Zero later this year. Also starring Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif in pivotal roles, the Anand L Rai directorial is scheduled to hit screens on December 21.
