Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0 is slated to hit the theatres on November 29, the Madras High Court has issued an order to 37 internet service providers (ISPs) to block more than 12,000 websites which features pirated versions of Tamil movies.

Trade analyst and film critic also tweeted after High Court’s direction and wrote, ‘’Huuuge effort, hope all fans will help too #2point0 ONLY IN THEATRES CRUSH #Piracy @rajinikanth @akshaykumar @shankarshanmugh release, Madras High Court has directed 37 internet service providers(ISPs) to block over 12,000 websites that exhibit pirated versions of Tamil movies’’.

Justice M Sunder passed the order on Wednesday allowing a plea moved by the production house, Lyca Productions Pvt Limited.

Lyca’s counsel Vijayan Subramaniam made a list of 12,564 illegal websites including TamilRockers, which creates mirror websites immediately by making a little change in the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) and immerge again with the infringing material with little effort.

The number of websites operated by ‘TamilRockers’ is more than 2,000.

Helmed by S Shankar, 2.0 features Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson in pivotal roles. The movie has been produced with an estimated budget of Rs 550 crore. It is scheduled to release in more than 10,000 screens worldwide in several languages including Mandarin in China.

The first teaser of the science-fiction film was released in September, which has garnered more than 45 million views plus the trailer was watched more than 35 million times on YouTube.

The makers of 2.0 boast about the movie’s USP, that is, it’s world-class visual effects. More than 15 VFX companies reportedly worked on the film, which finally has over 900 visual effects shots.

Another interesting fact about the movie is that 2.0 was originally shot in the 3D format rather than converting the 2D format into 3D.
