2.0 box office collection day 1: Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar starrer '2.0' earns Rs 20.25 crore in Hindi

First day collection of Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar starrer '2.0'

Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0 is one of the most anticipated flicks of the year and the sequel of 2010 super hit film Enthiran. The movie was finally released on November 29 on more than 10,000 screens worldwide. Rajinikanth will be seen reprising the role of doctor Vaseegaran and Chitti while Akshay will be making his South Indian cinema debut with an antagonist role.

Helmed by Shankar, 2.0 received mostly positive reviews from film critics as well as from the audience. The audience gave more preference to the 3D version of the film and some of the shows even started as early as 4 am.

Looking at the response, which the film received on its first day of release, it is expected to good business. Trade analyst and film critic Girish Johar made predictions for the first day collection of 2.0 and wrote, “The Hindi version of the film is expected to earn something between Rs 20-25 crore on the day of its release. If we consider all languages (Tamil and Telugu), the Rajinikanth starrer will touch Rs 100 crore (gross) mark on day one’’.

The 'Box Office India' has released the nett first day collection of 2.0 in Hindi is around Rs 20 crore. The website reads, ''2.0 (Hindi) has had a good opening day with collections of around 20 crore nett. This is despite the big multiplexes not performing upto the mark but the film has done very well at other multiplexes and single screens''.

Lyca’s counsel Vijayan Subramaniam made a list of 12,564 illegal websites including TamilRockers, which creates mirror websites immediately by making a little change in the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) and immerge again with the infringing material with very little effort.

On November 28, Madras High Court even passed an order to 37 internet service providers (ISPs) to block more than 12,000 websites which features pirated versions of Tamil movies.

Bankrolled by Lyca Productions, 2.0 features Akshay Kumar, Rajinikanth and Amy Jackson in significant roles. The movie has been produced with an estimated budget of Rs 550 crore. The music of the film has been composed by A R Rahman.
