Hima Das made history earlier on July when she won India’s first goal medal in a track event at the Under-20 IAAF World Athletics event in Finland. The runner from Assam won the gold medal in 400-metre track event at the World Junior Championships.
Hima became an overnight star with her unbelievable feat as tributes poured in from every corner of the nation.
Now, Bollywood's ‘Khiladi’ Akshay Kumar is interested in adapting her life story for a biopic on the Indian sprinter.
"I would like to make biopic on Hima Das because she is a track runner, I think it was very rare feat to achieve because somebody who comes from interiors of India and wins a gold medal in track event was really incredible," Akshay Kumar said while promoting his sports-drama film "Gold".

"India has been a little bit weak when it comes to performing in track events and I feel we should encourage and support that form of sports to show the world that we have great talent when it comes to running as we daily run so fast to catch a bus or a train...so, I would love to make biopic on her life," he said.
"Before doing this film, I didn't know that we won our first Olympic gold medal in 1948. Most of us don't know when, how, where and in which circumstances we were able to win that gold medal by defeating, on their own turf, England who ruled us for 200 years... so, this kind of things cinema can represent all this in a very nice way,” said the 50-year-old actor while answering to a question on whether films can generate the need of sports in one’s life and help India become a better sporting nation.
Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Gold’ is a historical sports drama inspired by Indian hockey team’s first Olympic gold medal through the journey of Tapan Das, a young assistant manager in 1936, whose dream is to represent an independent India.
The sports drama also features Amit Sadh, Kunal Kapoor, Sunny Kaushal, Mouni Roy and Vineet Kumar Singh in lead roles.
Directed by Reema Kagti and produced by Excel Entertainment, ‘Gold’ releases on August 15.
