New Delhi:

A cop is about to catch a thief, then they hear the National Anthem, will the cop stand in attention? Will the cop let the thief go away? What happened next in the short film - A Night BeforeThe Surgical Strike - is going to surprise you.

Trailer of ‘A Night Before The Surgical Strike’ a short film is out. With a pinch of humour, the film satirically discusses all aspects of the ongoing tension between India-Pakistan border.

India had carried out surgical strikes across LoC destroying seven terror launch pads on September 29 this year.

Bollywood actor and alumnus of Delhi University's Hindu College, Nalin Singh has written and directed the short film.

To know more about the short film, News Nation Digital spoke to Nalin Singh and asked a few questions:

Here are the excerpts from our interview with Nalin Singh-

Q: What prompted you to make this short film?
A: I wanted to show the situation of a common man in existing situation in the country. The movie revolves around a common man which is being depicted in the movie by a thief (protagonist). The thief starts a humours conversation with the cop. The conversation is actually tells the real story which I tried to convey to the audience through this movie. The idea only struck after the surgical strikes took place in September.

Q: What the movie is all about?
A: As I said it revolves around the common man in India. The movie shows how a thief and cop react and behave when National Anthem starts playing. The cop continues to chase thief but what does it amount to? The movie has many layers to it when it comes to meanings. It is up to the people how do they interpret it, but my only intention is to show the movie with a satirical touch to it.

Q: The subject itself is very serious, how do you think people are going to take it? Will they be able to digest the humour side of it?
A: I am a film maker, I make films on the subjects I feel for. Every dialogue, action, scene is deeply thought-upon and well defined. The protagonist, cop and other things depict the tale of a common man in India.

Q: What is the final message that you would like to convey through this movie?
A: There is very famous Jesus quote, “And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, ‘Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.” We blame each other for bads, we point finger and this happens at national, international levels also. The movie somewhere is about peeping down deep into ourselves and asking who among us is the one who has not committed a sin?
