A Mumbai court on Friday suspended the sentence given to actress Preeti Jain for four weeks and later granted her bail. The court also gave her four weeks to approach the high court. She is facing charges of giving money to gangsters to kill director Madhur Bhandarkar.
The court granted bail to her and two others in the case with a rider of payment of fine imposed by the court. She has to also furnish Rs 15,000 as a bail bond.
Earlier in the day, actor Preeti Jain and two others, convicted by a Mumbai court for giving money to gangsters to kill Madhur Bhandarkar in 2005 for plotting Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar's murder while two others have been acquitted in the case.
Two including actor Preeti Jain sentenced to three years imprisonment by a Mumbai court, one gets two years jail.
Earlier, Preeti Jain had accused film director Madhur Bhandarkar for sexually exploiting her. Preeti was arresed for allegedly giving 'supari' to underworld don-turned-politician Arun Gawli to kill Bhandarkar.
The police arrested Jain and Naresh Pardesi (Arun Gawli henchman) after eight hours of interrogation. "We have arrested Preeti Jain and Naresh Pardesi under IPC (Indian Penal Code) 115 and 120-B for abetment of offence and conspiracy to kill," said Santosh Rastogi, DCP (Deputy Commissioner of Police) Zone 3.

"On September 3, Gawde sent a letter to Agripada police, saying Jain came looking for Pardesi as she had given him Rs 75,000 to murder Bhandarkar. We called Jain for interrogation, and picked up Pardesi from his residence at Baburao Jagtap Marg," said DCP Rastogi.
Gawli distanced himself from Naresh Pardesi after this. "I have nothing to do with this Pardesi. Jain came looking for him and had come to meet me. My personal assistant told me about this and I advised her that she should contact the police. I do not know what happened thereafter. Now I hear she is arrested," said Gawli.
However, Madhur Bhandarkar also stated that he felt vindicated. "The court has acquitted me of the rape charge. She has not been able to digest the fact that the sessions court rejected her pleas twice. What can I do? People are jealous of my success. I heard this information from the channels," Bhandarkar said.
