Ajay Devgn's Raid, which was one of the most talked about movies of 2018, has hit the theatres on March 16. The movie features Ajay in the role of a fearless Income Tax officer and is said to be based on true incident of a country’s most high-profile raid.
With an intriguing trailer, Raid had kept the audience curious about the storyline and has managed to fetch in good reviews from the critics so far.
Indeed, speculations are rife if a gripping trailer and buzz around Raid manage to make the cash registers ring.
According to the media reports, it is believed that the Ajay Devgn starrer will make a decent collection of around Rs 8 crore on its day of release.
“Raid is expected to open to a collection of Rs 8-8.5 crore on Friday. Despite the fact that Raid is being headlined by an A-lister like Ajay Devgn, it does not have the ‘masala’ Bollywood kind of appeal for audiences. Raid’s box-office success largely depends on its word-of-mouth promotion in the coming days,” Trade and film analyst Girish Johar told Indian Express.
In fact, the trade experts also stated that Raid is expected to have a higher collection provided a good word-of-mouth.
“The weekend collection of Raid could go up to Rs 26-28 crore and even more if the makers bring good content to the table. Director Raj Kumar Gupta, who has helmed films like Aamir and No One Killed Jessica among others, is known in the industry for making films that deliver a strong message,” he added.
Interestingly, Raid isn't facing any major competition at the box office at present which might make a winning situation for the Ajay Devgn starrer.
Helmed by Raj Kumar Gupta, Raid also stars Ileana D’Cruz and Saurabh Shukla in pivotal roles.
Only time will reveal how will the movie fare at the box office.
