Akshay Kumar turns 50: Here's how 'Gold' star is celebrating his birthday this year

Akshay Kumar has all the reasons to be on cloud nine at present as the superstar is celebrating his 50th birthday on September 9. Indeed, it is a special day for him not just personally but professionally too as the actor has been on a success roll with all his recent movies doing a commendable business at the box office.

It was quite expected that Akshay might have a grand celebration for his 'golden' birthday. However, contrary to the speculations, the Khiladi Kumar has opted to celebrate his special day with his family. In fact, Akki has some really special plans too for his 50th birthday.

During his recent interview to Hindustan Times, Akshay stated, "This year might be my half century, but I’m actually celebrating by giving my son his dream snowboarding holiday, as much as I know I’ll love it... I’m only doing this for my boy because I know what this kind of adventure with his family will mean to him. Actually, I even remember my 40th in Florida; my wife and I took Aarav to a theme park all day, and when we came home, we were all so knackered that we all fell asleep by 5.30pm on my birthday — no party, no celebration, just unconditional family time. I always want my birthday to be about making my children happy and that’s all I would ever wish for, for they are all I want and need."

The Jolly LLB 2 star further added that he has some special resolutions for his big day as well where in he is looking forward to a more healthy life.

"I’ve promised my son more adventurous holidays. I’ve promised my wife that I’d chew my food more. I’ve promised my daughter I’ll stay strong so I can carry her up every mountain her brother wants to climb, and I’ve promised my coach I’m not going give up — turning 50 means 50 reps of everything, apparently," Akshay added.

Well, that is indeed a great way to celebrate one's birthday.

On the work front, Akshay Kumar will be soon seen in Reema Kagti's upcoming directorial Gold. The movie happens to be based on  India's first Olympic medal win as a free nation in the year 1948 at the 14th Olympic Games at London.

Gold also marks television actress Mouni Roy's debut in Bollywood and is expected to release in August 2018.
