Rohit Shetty's directorial Simmba starring Ranveer Singh is still soaring high on the success. This Bolly-masala movie had all the elements that took the audience on a joy ride. Other than Ranveer Power-packed performance, film’s foot-thumping music and Ajay Devgn’s cameo, what grabbed our eyeballs was Khiladi Akshay Kumar’s stint in the movie as a handsome cop, Veer Sooryavanshi. The name of Akshay Kumar’s character seems inspired by Salman Khan’s flicks- Veer and Suryavanshi.
The text on the screen revealed that Akshay aka Sooryavanshi would be "taking charge in 2019". After teasing Akshay Kumar’s look in Simmba, Rohit Shetty is gearing up for his collaboration with the 'Khiladi of Bollywood'.
For Sooryavanshi, Rohit Shetty will be collaborating with Akshay Kumar for the first time. Akshay will play the role of a rebellious ATS (Anti Terrorist Squad) officer in the movie. While fans are excited about it, another speculation of Katrina Kaif starring as the female lead is breaking the internet.
A report on an entertainment site had claimed that Katrina might romance Akshay in Sooryavanshi after 9 years. The charming and hit couple were last seen together in Farah Khan’s directorial Tees Maar Khan. The duo has been a part of blockbuster films such as Singh is Kinng, Namastey London, Tees Maar Khan, Welcome and others.
Putting an end to the speculations, Rohit Shetty has rubbished all such reports. The director was quoted as saying, "It’s not true'. We are still working on the script."It looks like the director needs time to finalise on the female lead in the film as the film’s script is still in the pipeline.
Still garnering positive response for Simmba, Rohit Shetty is gearing up to begin work on Sooryanvashi. The movie will reportedly hit floors in April. While Ranveer Singh-starrer Simmba, is still running strong at the box office, there’s another feather added to director Rohit Shetty’s cap.
With Simmba, Rohit Shetty becomes the first director in the history of Bollywood cinema to deliver eight back-to-back films to have made more than Rs 100 crore at the domestic box office. Rohit Shetty’s blockbuster hits include Golmaal 3, Singham, Bol Bachchan, Chennai Express, Singham Returns, Dilwale, Golmaal Again and Simmba.
