Akshay Kumar who is known for his philanthropic works apart from his highest-grossing movies at box office and one of the highest taxpayer in the country has contributed Rs 25 crore for the coronavirus relief fund set up by the Prime Minister to help the people who livelihood has hit rock botton over nationwide lockdown for 21 days.
On March 28, PM Modi announced the CARES fund requesting for donations to fight the coronavirus war.
Akshay Kumar who has been extremely active on Twitter making followers aware about the threats of coronavirus and how to practice social distancing and abide by government's lockdown mandate, announced about his contribution on his Twitter page and wrote, "This is that time when all that matters is the lives of our people. And we need to do anything and everything it takes. I pledge to contribute Rs 25 crores from my savings to @narendramodi ji’s PM-CARES Fund. Let’s save lives, Jaan hai toh jahaan hai. (sic)."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced that he has created a relief fund for assistance and emmrgency situations where people can donate in government's fight against coronavirus."Let us leave no stone unturned to make India healthier and more prosperous for our future generations," PM Modi said.

Meanwhile, industralist Ratan Tata also has commited to contribute a whopping Rs 500 crore for PMCares Fund.
