Akshay Kumar's recent social drama Padman, which opened to positive reviews by critics, has been witnessing a decent business at the box office.
The movie, which also stars Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte in key roles, deals with the issue of menstruation.
Indeed, hopes have been high for Padman and it was expected that the movie too will make commendable earnings just like Akshay's previous releases.
While the Akshay starrer started on a good note, the recent reports suggest that Padman will not be able to enter the coveted Rs 100 crore club.
As per the box office trends, Padman has managed to rake in a collection of Rs 62.87 crore in its first week.
However, the R Balki directorial witnessed a drop in the second week and ended up making Rs 71.90 crore by the end of second week.

It is reported that one of the major reasons behind Padman's dropped business is said to be its competition with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat.
Reportedly, while Padmaavat, which was mired with controversies since beginning, witnessed a hike in its collection in the second week, it had a major impact on the earnings of Akshay Kumar starrer.
On the hand, the release of Sidharth Malhotra, Manoj Bajpayee Aiyaary which too affected Padman's business.
The media reports suggest the despite positive reviews and decent opening, Padman is expected to have a lifetime business of around Rs 80 crore.
