Akshay Kumar starrer Rowdy Rathore will be back to the big screen with its sequel and like the first movie, Akshay Kumar will be playing the lead
In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Shabinaa Khan, co-producer of the movie with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, has revealed that they are working on the script of Rowdy Rathore 2.
It was in 2012 that director Prabhudheva brought Akshay Kumar's film Rowdy Rathore on the big screen. Akshay Kumar was seen in a double role in Prabhudheva's film, as Shiva (a thief) and Vikram Rathore (a cop). There is no confirmation whether Sonakshi Sinha, who played his love interest Paro in the original, will join the cast of the second part.
Rowdy Rathore potrays the story of a brave cop Vikram Rathore, who dies at the hands of corrupt politicians. His team replaces him with Shiva, a thief, who happens to be his lookalike, in an attempt to catch the culprits. Shiva vows to complete Rathore's unfinished work.
Directed by Prabhudheva, Rowdy Rathore is an official remake of 2006 Telugu film Vikramarkudu, which starred Ravi Teja and Anushka Shetty.
The film is one of the biggest box-office hits of the superstar’s career. It collected a handsome Rs 133.25 crore at the ticket windows
