This year, the state of Assam hosted Bollywood's one of the most anticipated award nights, the 'Filmfare'. The glittery event, organised at Guwahati’s Sarusajai Stadium, was attended by some of the most renowned faces of the movie industry including the 'Khiladi Kumar'. Akshay, who also performed in the event, on Monday took to Twitter and thanked Assam police, state chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal for ensuring smooth experience at the event. The Kesari actor wrote, "Could fly in & out in a jiffy only thanks to the superb efficiency of @assampolice. Thank you for ensuring such a smooth experience at the award function in Guwahati. Akshay Kumar, during his performance dressed like his character Havaldar Ishar Singh from his historical war drama Kesari, paid tribute to Indian soldiers on the Filmfare stage. The actor also danced to the Bala song 'Shaitan Ka Saala' from Housefull, donned a red skirt during his performance on 'Laal Ghagra' from Good Newwz.

The starry night was also attended by the who’s who of Bollywood celebs including Ayushmann Khurrana, Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Kartik Aaryan, Karan Johar, Bhumi Pednekar, Vicky Kaushal and Taapsee Pannu among others. Alia and Ranveer-starrer Gully Boy won big at the awards. While Ranveer took home the Best Actor's trophy for his performance in the film, Alia won the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female) for the same film. Gully Boy also won the Best Film Award.
Siddhant Chaturvedi and Amruta Subhash were awarded in the Best Supporting Actor and Actress categories for delivering critically-acclaimed performances in the Zoya Akhtar-directed film
