Akshay Kumar to play the role of hockey player in Gold

Akshay Kumar talks about his upcoming movie Gold, which is based on real-life. The actor has shared the poster of the movie on twitter. The Rustom actor will be seen playing the role of a real life hockey player Balbir Singh in the sports Biopic.

Balbir Singh played for the Indian hockey team in the year 1948, vice-captain of the squad in 1952. The team won three successive gold medals in Olympics. Even after having unbeaten records, the player never got recognition that he deserved.

Balbir Singh didn't leave the game even after retiring from the field.He remained the coach and manager of the Indian Hockey Team. The player is now 92 year old and lives in Canada with his family.

Akshay Kumar has earlier been praised for his role in movies like Rustom, Airlift that are also associated with India's past.
