Following mum Pooja Bedi’s footsteps, Alaya F is all prepped to make her debut on the big screen with Saif Ali Khan and Tabu in Jawaani Jaaneman and like any other star kid is also ready to take with iron fist in a velvet gloves. The debutante who earlier revealed that she has learned a lot from her contemporary Ananya Panday’s interviews, took a dig at the Pati Patni Aur Woh actor for her widely criticised comments on struggle and privilege.

While participating at a candid rapid fire round on Zoom’s chat show Alaya was asked what she has that Ananya doesn’t, she replied, “A good answer on nepotism.” She then told the host, “You’re asking me to be mean! I don’t like to be mean.”

Recently, Ananya was massively trolled when she said during an interview that she has not had it as easy as people think. She went on to equate privilege with appearing on Kofee With Karan and that her father has not been invited for it, nor in films backed by Dharma Productions. After receiving a feisty comeback from co-star Siddhant Chaturvedi, trolls poured themselves on her comment.

Earlier, Alaya defended Ananya’s remarks and told Zoom in an interview “I don’t think any of us don’t understand the concept of privilege, struggle and nepotism. We all are quite aware of it, and more or less, we all have the same stance on it. It’s just that sometimes, it’s tricky in the way you put it out. It’s so easy for one-two words to go to the wrong place and for it to be misconstrued.”

Alaya is currently waiting for the release of her maiden film Jawaani Jaaneman, in which she plays the daughter of Saif Ali Khan and Tabu. The film, which also stars Kubbra Sait and Farida Jalal in key roles, is slated to release this Friday (January 31).

Earlier taking on the nepotism debate Alaya has said Mumbai Mirror, “We need to realise that even in our struggle, we are privileged. If we got rejected in 10 auditions, someone else has got the thumbs down 100 times. Their struggle is greater than ours. But just because I’m privileged, doesn’t mean that I’m not going to do what I love and work hard at it.”

Alaya F will be seen on the big screen with Saif and Tabu in Nitin Kakkar ‘s Jawaani Jaaneman. The movie comes to the theatres on January 31.
