Ali Zafar, who was accused of sexual harassment last April by singer-actor Meesha Shafi in the wake of #MeToo Movement has refuted all claims made against him. In an interview for a Pakistan channel, Zafar claims that he has been silent for a long time and that Meesha’s accusations are false further asking why the social media campaign is being run against him.
“I don’t know why she is doing this, one should ask her. All of us have been quietly suffering for so long. Not just me, but my family — my kids and my wife too. I haven’t said a single word in the last one year as I had decided to take action legally through court. But they have been making fake accounts and tagging everyone who tries to hire me in order to ruin my career,†Zafar tells the interviewer while breaking down.
"Ye sab log fake accounts ke through ya personally bhi emails likhte hain taaki mera bilkul career khatm ho jaaye. (They are writing personal emails to those who try to hire me, so that my career is completely destroyed)’’ he further added.

Ali Zafar also took to Twitter to share a video in where he can be seen in recording with Meesha Shafi.
"Nobody expected you to carry a GoPro #Meesha, luckily I had something close to it at the jam you accused me at. 11 witnesses from this jam, 2 of them women who went to court several times to testify against you but proceedings were delayed. Apologise or #FaceTheCourtMeeshaShafi," the caption read.

Meesha reportedly had called out Zafar last April, accusing the singer of sexually harassing her in a long Twitter post, ‘’Sharing this because I believe that by speaking out about my own experience of sexual harassment, I will break the culture of silence that permeates through our society. It is not easy to speak out.. but it is harder to stay silent. My conscience will not allow it anymore #MeToo’’.
Zafar denied all the allegations on Twitter on the day and after two months, he slapped a defamation a Rs 100 crore defamation suit against Shafi.
