Alia Bhatt has unveiled her first look at the matriarch, Gangubai Kathiawadi in Sanajay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi. Playing the role of the mafia queen that lurks in the shadows of Mumbai, the 26-year-old with her smudged kajal, and big red bindi, piercing eyes and a traditional Kathiawadi nose ring demands authority. Sharing her yet another impressive role, Alia Bhatt shared the look of the mafia queen on Twitter, announcing, ‘’Here she is, Gangubai Kathiawadi’’.

Based on the book, Mafia Queens of Mumbai by Hussain Zaidi and Jane Borges, the shooting for the promising project started earlier in December. Sharing bits of the work, Alia, shared on her Insta teasing, ‘"Look what Santa gave me this year’ as she posted a pic of a vanity van with Gangubai sticker on it.
The film is expected to release 11 September 2020.
