Anurag Kashyap Claims Twitter 'Reduced' His Followers; Fans Can’t Find Out When They ‘Unfollowed'

Anurag Kashyap who retired from Twitter citing family safety returned to the microblogging site to raise his voice against the Jamia crackdown lost much of his following drastically. In his pursuit of fearlessly criticising the CAA Bill, the filmmaker has lost more than four lakh followers.

Tagging Twitter India on the platform, the director wrote while sharing a screenshot of his follower count, “And @TwitterIndia has drastically reduced my followers ..” Kashyap claimed his followers have drastically dropped to 76.3K from over 5 lakh.

Many Twitter user who previously followed Kashyap shared screenshot from their account and asked Twitter how did he get unfollowed even when they have not done it manually. Many replied to his post, saying they can confirm that they had never unfollowed him yet his profile does not appear on their “following list suddenly”. Others slammed Twitter for it and wondered if the platform was “silencing those protesting against NRC and CAA”.

Kashyap has now regained much his following and is now 155k follower strong as we report.

Kashyap recently called Akshay Kumar spineless for not reacting or voicing any opinion to the ongoing nationwide protests over CAA.

In his comeback tweet, after a four month long hiatus, The Gangs of Wasspur director condeming the ongoing situation wrote, “This has gone too far.. can’t stay silent any longer. This government is clearly fascist .. and it makes me angry to see voices that can actually make a difference stay quiet ..”

Meanwhile, Hindu Sanghatan founder on Friday filed a police complaint against Bollywood actor and film-maker Farhan Akhtar for allegedly distorting facts about the newly enacted Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) through his comments on Twitter.

Actor Siddharth of ‘Rang De Basanti’ fame was booked for participating in anti-Citizenship Amendment Act protests in Chennai on Friday. According to latest reports, the actor was named in the FIR along with 600 other protesters and Parineeti Chopra’s has repotedly been removed as the face of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign in Haryana.
