Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma is all set to become the new female face of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ongoing crusade Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
Considering her popularity amongst the females in the country, the diva has been appointed by the Ministry of Urban Development to reach women rural and semi-rural areas.
"In these places, it’s the men who resist the idea of building toilets while women really need them in light of health and safety concerns in open spaces like fields and farms. In her films, Anushka has always played inspiring female characters. So the government believes her voice will resonate with women," a source reportedly told a leading daily.
Interestingly, Anushka will be joining megastar Amitabh Bachchan who is seen promoting the movement quite actively.
On the work front, Anushka Sharma is currently busy with her next production 'Phillauri' in which she will be sharing the screen space with Diljit Dosanjh.
The movie will hit the screens on March 24 this year.
