After the 'Baahubali 2' storm that ruled the box office collections for a while now, Indian box office recently witnessed a major clash between Arjun Kapoor's 'Half Girlfriend' and Irrfan Khan's 'Hindi Medium'. Both the movies came up with a rather different concept and were somehow taking a dig at English language. 'Half Girlfriend' talked about the modern love stories where you are more than friends but less than lovers; whereas 'Hindi Medium' talked about the struggle of parents to providing high class education to their kids.
While it was a rather 'classy' clash given the modern concepts of both the movie, it was Arjun Kapoor-Shraddha Kapoor's sparkling lovestory which got a upper hand at the box office. A Mohit Suri directorial, got a decent start at the box office with a collection of Rs 10.27 cr, where as Irrfan Khan's 'Hindi Medium' which also feautred Pakistani actress Saba Qamar could manage to rake in just Rs 2.81 cr on its day of release.
Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh took it to micro-blogging site Twitter to share the first day box office collections of both the movies.

Indeed, the box office figures have come as a surprise for many as 'Hindi Medium' garned much more positive reviews in comparison to 'Half Girlfriend'.
We wonder if the weekend collection of both the movies will change the scenario of this box office battle, given that they are also facing a tough competition from SS Rajamouli's 'Baahubali 2' which, despite being in its third week of release, is still going strong and minting crores.
