Ashutosh Gowariker directorial Panipat: The Great Betrayal, one of the greatest and most ambitious war in the history of India, went on the floors on Friday. The multi-starrer movie, featuring Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Sanjay Dutt, is based on the third battle of Panipat that was fought in 1761 between the Afghans and the Marathas and was won by the Afghans.

The film portrays Arjun, Sanjay, and Kriti, portraying the characters of Sadashivrao Bhau, the king of Afghanistan Ahmed Shah Abdali and Parvatibai, respectively.
The Ishaqzaade actor took to his Twitter handle to share the first poster of his upcoming movie as the project begins its journey today. “Embarking on a journey like never before... with Ashu sir & our entire team. #Panipat #PanipatShootBeginsToday @agpplofficial @AshGowariker #SunitaGowariker @visionworldfilm @RohitShelatkar @duttsanjay @kritisanon,” tweeted Arjun.

The movie will mark as one of the biggest movie helmed by the Gunday star, both in terms of scale and budget.
The leading lady of the film, Kriti will soon join the team. She wrote on her Twitter account, “Our #Panipat journey begins today. Super excited for this new chapter.. gonna join you guys in 2days.. lets do this! #PanipatShootBeginsToday.”

Panipat will be Ashutosh’s first film starring Arjun, Kriti, and Sanjay. The three actors have also not worked with each other before.
Produced under the banner of Ashutosh Gowarikar Productions, the war saga is slated to hit the theatres on December 6, 2018.
