Having enacted various characters like a fiery, rustic lover, a “goonda” and a lover boy in his four years of film career, actor Arjun Kapoor now wants to explore his comic side on-screen.
“The genre of films is important. My imagery of angry young man was created after my few films, but then it got broken with ‘2 States’. Now I can do everything. I would want to do an out-and-out comedy. I enjoy it and want to attempt it,” Arjun told PTI.
“I would also like to explore a dark thriller, a con film. I am still young so I have lot of time to try out various things,” he said.
Arjun is the only actor in the younger generation to have tried his hands on television, as a host for adventure reality show “Khatron Ke Khiladi”.
“I have done television, so I have explored that avenue as well. I am glad I did it, I am happy with the response,” he said.
The 30-year-old “Gunday” star has now also become confident about his craft of acting.
“You get better with every film. Experience counts a lot in an actor’s life. I also feel there is need to be better, there is still room for improvement. It is a never ending process,” he said.
Arjun feels lucky to be directed by talented directors, who bring out the best in him.
“I am enjoying being directed by good directors. I can think about my performance and get indulged. I am not restless, I am patient,” he said.
In director R Balki’s upcoming film “Ki and Ka”, Arjun plays the role of a house husband, and he had no qualms about taking up this unusual part.
“I was not worried about the reception of audience towards my role and film. People are talking about the film and saying it’s a big risk and experiment. I think people respect if you do something unique,” he said.
According to Arjun, the audience will relate to the circumstances in the film where a career ambitious woman - Kareena Kapoor Khan - runs the house while he chooses to stay at home doing household chores.
“I have faith in my director and I think he will not make something that is not relatable. I don’t think I will get a backlash for the film, and even if I get, it’s a risk worth taking,” he said.
The romantic-comedy, also starring Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan in cameo appearances, opens up in theatres on April 1.
