Indian cinemas will witness the biggest period drama and battle sequence of all times with Ashtosh Gowarikher's upcoming movie Panipat starring Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Kapoor and Kriti Sanon in pivotal roles. The period drama will reportedly have 110 stars featuring in it.
The maker of Bollywood's some of the grandest war sequences in movies like the Jodha Akhbar, Aushtosh Gowarikar will break his own records and make Panipat even larger.
Time of india reported that the final mighty star cast has been locked by casting director Rohan Mapuskar after a period of month-long research. Sources close to the casting director told the national daily, “The third battle of Panipat lasted for several days and involved almost 125,000 troops, so you can imagine the scale of it. There were many important people involved in this battle, hence we had to cast so many actors in the film. Director Ashutosh Gowariker has envisioned the film on a huge scale, and Panipat will definitely be a grand cinematic experience.”
The movie was announced last year in March and is scheduled to release on December 06. period dramas are a rage in bollywood. After Bahubaali's sucess, Manikarnika made much noise and now the wait is for Kalank set in the pre-partion era. Other upcoming movies are Kesari, Takht, Shamshera among others.
Panipat is based on the Third Battle of Panipat that was fought on January 14, 1761 between the king of Afghanistan Ahmad Shah Abdali and Maratha Empire leader Sadashivrao Bhau. Sanjay Dutt will potray the character of the Afghan ruler and is prepping for his role with a diet hich doesn't have much carbs and fats but is consuming such food items that are rich in protein like chicken, salads, and fish.
