New Delhi:

Ayushmann Khurrana starrer laughter riot film Badhaai Ho is unbeatable at the box office. Ever since its announcement, the romantic comedy had a great buzz around it due to its unique subject. Within a week of it’s terrific opening at the ticket window, Badhaai Ho earned Rs 66.10 crore at the domestic box-office. The movie has done incredible business as the weeks progressed. Thugs Of Hindostan starring Bollywood biggies, Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan hit the skids at the box office due to it’s lacking script and terrible performances. This failure exceeded Badhaai Ho’s stay at the top slot helping the movie garner a thunderous business of Rs 201.97.

Released on Dussehra last month, Badhaai Ho was expected to end its glorious box office run after the release of Aamir Khan's Thugs of Hindostan, but the movie has surprised everyone by refusing to slow down!

Tweeting about its daily business, Taran Adarsh wrote, "#BadhaaiHo is truly UNSTOPPABLE... Fifth Tue records better biz than fifth Mon, which says it all... [Week 5] Fri 95 lakhs, Sat 1.60 cr, Sun 2.15 cr, Mon 70 lakhs, Tue 80 lakhs. Total: ₹ 126.60 cr. India biz."

Badhaai Ho narrates the story of a Railway Ticket Collector (Gajraj Rao) who lives in New Delhi with his spouse (Neena Gupta), two grown-up children (Ayushmann Khurrana and Shardul Ran) and his mother (Surekha Sikri). News breaks out that his wife is pregnant which comes like a shock to the entire family. The news tickles the rib as it leaves Ayushmann Khurrana shamefaced. The rest of the movie is woven around nosey neighbours, nasty relatives and garish weddings in the very middle-class society where the ‘Kaushiks’ inhabit.

Other than strong word of mouth and raving reviews by the film critics, megastar Amitabh Bachchan also sent a handwritten note to director Amit R Sharma and Neena Gupta praising their work in the movie. "When the LEGEND Himself Appreciates Your Work. A Slice Of Heaven. Deeply Humbled. @SrBachchan SIR This Means The World To Me. #AHandWrittenLetter #BadhaaiHo," Amit wrote, alongside the picture of the letter.

Ayushmann Khurrana's recent outings Andhadhun and Badhaai Ho have the bull's eye at the Box Office making him a bankable star. Other than Ayushmann Khurrana, the movie features Surekha Sikhri and Sanya Malhotra in pivotal roles.
