After offbeat films like Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Bareilly Ki Barfi, Shubh Mangal Savdhan and AndhaDhun, Ayushmann Khurrana is once again back on top slot at the box office with his latest film Badhaai Ho.
Badhaai Ho is Ayushmann Khurrana’s second film this month after Andhadhun, a Sriram Raghavan thriller starring Tabu and Radhika Apte which garnered him a lot of praise.
How ingenious script choices can change an actor’s fate, Khurrana is an apt example of that. With a strong positive word of mouth around the film and rave reviews from film experts, Badhaai Ho has received a terrific opening at the ticket window.
Ever since its announcement, the romantic comedy had a great buzz around it due to its unique subject.
Badhaai Ho narrates the story of a Railway Ticket Collector (Gajraj Rao) who lives in New Delhi with his spouse (Neena Gupta), two grown-up children (Ayushmann Khurrana and Shardul Ran) and his mother (Surekha Sikri). News breaks out that his wife is pregnant which comes like a shock to the entire family. The rest of the movie is woven around nosey neighbours, nasty relatives and garish weddings in the very middle-class society that the Kaushiks inhabit.
Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh has tweeted Badhaai Ho’s business figures on the opening day. He said, “#BadhaaiHo takes a FLYING START... Gets the advantage of partial holiday... Expected to score over the weekend... Thu ₹ 7.29 cr. India biz.â€
