Badhaai Ho screenwriters withdraw nomination from Filmfare awards

Badhaai Ho became one of the successful movies of Bollywood in 2019 for its unusual subject, screenplay and punch lines making it win accolades and awards like the 'Bollywood Entertainer of the Year' at the Indian Television Academy Awards, it has now secured nominations at the Filmfare Award 2019 for the Best Orginal Story category.

But now reports have it that its screenplay writers Akshat and Shantanu have withdrawn their nomination from the Filmfare awards 2019 post the inclusion of the screenwriter, Jyoti Kapoor’s name alongside them.

The two released a statement on Twitter and informed the reason behind doing so. The statement by Shantanu and Akshat mentioned that they would not like to share the award with someone who hasn’t worked on the film (Jyoti Kapoor) with them. 

 

The issue began after the screenwriter, Jyoti Kapoor’s name was included with Shantanu and Akshat in the award nominations. However, 4-5 days back, her name was dropped from the nominations. Post which, she reached out to The Screenwriters Association and demanded her name to be included in the award nominations as she claimed to have worked on the film. 

Post this, both Shantanu and Akshat decided to withdraw their name from the list of nominations for the Best Original Story of the Filmfare Awards 2019.
