Neena Gupta is garnering applaud for her role as a pregnant mid-aged woman in recently released ‘Badhai Ho’. But, it is known to very few that Neena Gupta was not the first choice of the director for the role. Even the role of her husband, played by Gajraj Rao was offered to some other actor before him.
Amit Sharma, director of ‘Badhai Ho’ told to IANS, “We had gone to Tabu ji for the role. At that time, we had a different script in mind and we wanted Tabu ma'am and Irrfan Khan sir. When she heard the script, she suggested Neenaji's name for her character. Tabu felt, perhaps rightly, that she looked like a woman who can still have a child’’.
The director also said that it was Ayushmann Khurrana who suggested Gajraj Rao’s name.
Meanwhile, the story of ‘Badhai Ho’ revolves around a mid-aged couple with two grown up kids, who are expecting another child.
Talking about the box-office collection of the flick, with the help of positive reviews and good word-of-mouth, ‘Badhai Ho’ is churning big numbers for its producers.
The movie has managed to earn more than Rs 66 crore in its first week and is expected to do good business in the second weekend as well.
‘Badhai Ho’ also features Sanaya Malhotra, Surekha Sikri and Sheeba Chaddha in pivotal roles.
