Ayushmann Khurrana’s Bala hit the screens on November 8 and is off to a good start. The film has minted another Rs 15 crore on Saturday, taking its total collection to Rs 25 crore, as per a report in Box Office India. The film collected Rs 10.5 crore on the first day of its release and has become the biggest opener of Ayushmann’s career.
Ayushmann’s previous films like-Dream Girl, Badhaai Ho, Article 15, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan and Andhadhun had earned Rs 10.05 crore, 7.35 crore, Rs 5.02 crore, Rs 2.71 crore and Rs 2.42 crore, respectively on their first day at the box office.
Thanking his fans for all the support, Ayushmann shared picture of a man on a cycle, rushing past a poster of the film and captioned it, ''Today, this film is not mine. It is yours. This story is not just Bala’s. It’s for anyone like Bala, who walks the streets searching for themselves. Thanks for the love.''
In the film, Ayushmann plays a man suffering from premature balding who becomes a big butt of jokes among his people. The film also stars Bhumi Pednekar and Yami Gautam in pivotal roles. While Bhumi plays a dusky small town girl who is obsessed with fair skin, Yami plays a Tik-Tok star that Ayushmann loses his heart to. However, Ayushmann does not reveal his balding head secret to Yami and tries every trick to hide it.

The movie marks the reunion of Ayushmann Khurrana with his most successful on-screen pairing - Bhumi Pednekar.This will be their third film together after Dum Laga Ke Haisha and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. It also marks the reunion of Ayushmann Khurrana with his first co-star Yami. The two reunite after their debut film, Vicky Donor.
Bala's subject was similar to last week's Ujda Chaman, which also became a cause of a big controversy. Dr. Zeus had also accused the Bala makers of ripping off his old hit song Don't Be Shy after which the Bala makers released an official statement saying that they have all the required rights to the song.
