Tollywood actress Bhavana Menon, who recently exchanged the rings with long-time beau Naveen, has opened up on her secret engagement saying she didn't want the function to be publicised and hence kept it a low-key affair.
The diva got engaged in a private ceremony held on Thursday which was attended by close friends and family.
Talking about the hush-hush engagement, soon-to-be bride stated that she wanted to announce about it at the time of her wedding.
"As I did not want the function to be publicised, I planned to conduct it secretly. Hence, the function was held at my house. I did not invite even my close friends and just informed them about the engagement. I thought about informing everyone when my marriage happens. However, the news became public," Bhavana told a leading portal.
It was a love-cum-arrange marriage for Naveen and Bhavana who chose to take their relationship to a next level after dating each other for over four years. They had first met each other during the shooting of 2012 release Kannada movie 'Romeo' and hit out instantly.
Interestingly, the love-birds had planned to get hitched in 2014, however, they had to postpone the plans owing to their work commitments.
In fact, Bhavana had even opened up about her wedding plans in one of her interviews, saying “We were planning to get married in 2014, but it didn’t happen due to my prior commitments. I always wanted to be a person who looks his life in a very matured manner.”
It is indeed a happy moment for both the families, who are currently busy with the celebrations.
While the couple is being inundated with best wishes from their fans, speculation are rife if Bhavana will continue acting post marriage.
However, Bhavana's mother has cleared the air saying that the decision will be taken by the diva herself about if she wants to work after getting married.
“Their marriage was fixed by Bhavana’s dad when he was alive. Once the date is finalised she will be making an official announcement.The date and whether she will continue acting – all these decisions will be taken by Bhavana only,” Bhavana’s mother Pushpa reportedly told a web portal.
Currently, Bhavana Menon is busy promoting Asif Alis' upcoming directorial 'Honey Bee 2', which is slated to release on March 23.
