Megastar Amitabh Bachchan and veteran actress Hema Malini today extended their warm birthday wishes to actor-producer Jeetendra as he turned 74.
Bachchan, Malini and Jeetendra starred together in 1973 action thriller “Gehri Chaal”. Malini and Jeetendra have also shared screen space in films like “The Burning Train”, “Waris” and “Khushboo”.
“Happy birthday Jeetendra... urf Jeetu ..!!” wrote Bachchan, 73, on Twitter, alongside a candid photo of himself with the veteran. 67-year-old Malini posted, “Recalling all our great times together! HappyBirthday Jeetuji!”
Jeetendra was born in Amritsar, Punjab to Amarnath and Krishna Kapoor whose business dealt with imitation jewellery. It is said that while supplying jewellery to filmmaker V Shantaram, he was cast as Sandhya’s character’s double in the 1959 movie “Navrang” and there began his showbiz journey.
He is known for his subtle acts in movies like “Parichay” and “Kinara”, and over-the-top commercial outings like “Mawaali”, “Himmatwala” and “Tohfa”. The actor got married to Shobha in 1974. They have two children—producer Ekta Kapoor and actor Tusshar Kapoor.
As a chairman of the Balaji Telefilms and Balaji Motion Pictures, he has been at the helm of popular TV shows and many successful Hindi films.
