New Delhi:

Ministry of External Affairs on February 26th confirmed that a MiG-21 was lost in the aerial retaliation and a wing Commander is in Pakistan's custody. Soon a video of the captive, treated brutally by the Pakistani forces started doing the rounds and Indians on Twitter started praying for his safe return.

Even Bollywood celebs empathized with the situation and took to Twitter and other forms of social media on Wednesday to pray for the Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot safe return to India.

Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan paid his respects for the IAF pilot. He tweeted, "T 3103 - Abhinandan .. शीश झुका कर .. अभिनंदन"

Filmmaker and actor Farhan Akhtar tweeted, "Thoughts with #WingCommanderAbhinandan and his family. Hoping for his early and safe return. #IndianAirForce”

"Thoughts and strength to #WingCommandarAbhinandan amd his familly....India stands tall and proud with you...."Karan Johar wrote in his tweet.

“My prayers with #wingcommanderabhinandan hope he is safe & we see him back on home soil very soon...,” wrote Arjun.

Sushmita Sen retwitting Pakistani author Fatima Bhutto, said, "We are all praying for the safe return of Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman #IAF gratitude from the daughter of a retired Indian Airforce officer @fbhutto for choosing humanity first & a way to peace🙏 Dugga Dugga & God bless"

Actor Siddharth condemning Pakistan tweeted, "Terrorists kill our men. We destroy a terror camp (they deny casualties but don't deny existence of terror camp). They capture our pilot. This isn't even on the same footing. #Pakistan supports terror. #India does not. War can't and won't change this fact. Neither will diplomacy."

Punjabi actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh decided to postpone the unveiling of his Madame Tussauds’ wax statue at an event in New Delhi on Thursday, in the wake of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. He tweeted, "Our soldiers are fighting hard to protect the Nation. We stand by our Soldiers. Amidst the tensions rising across the Nation, have decided to re-schedule the launch of #MadameTussauds WAX StatueWill Post New Date Soon🙏@MadameTussauds @tussaudsdelhi #BringBackAbhinandan"

Meanwhile, Indian government also strongly objected to Pakistan’s vulgar display of injured personnel of the Indian Air Force in violation of all norms of International Humanitarian Law and the Geneva Convention. It was made clear that Pakistan would be well advised to ensure that no harm comes to the Indian defence personnel in its custody. India also expects his immediate and safe return.
