Bollywood singer Nitin Bali died on Tuesday succumbing to injuries he sustained in a car accident in Mumbai, police said.

Bali, who shot to fame in the 1990s with remixed yesteryear hits, suffered severe head injuries when his car hit a divider on SV Road in suburban Borivali, according to the police official.

“He was taken to a hospital nearby but he left for his residence in Malad without getting himself treated. He complained of stomach ache this morning after which he was rushed to hospital again,” the official said.

The 47-year old singer, who married TV actress Roma Bali, succumbed to his injuries at the private hospital, the official added.

Bali was popular for his remixed version of classic hit songs, including Neele Neele Ambar, Chukar Mere Mann Ko, Ek Ajnabi Haseene Se and Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas.

Bali's funeral service is likely to take place on Wednesday, sources close to the singer said.
