He was one of the most entertaining lead actors that Hindi cinema has ever produced.He was one of the leading stars of Hindi cinema during the late 1950s, the 1960s and early 1970s.He was given Filmfare Best Actor Award for Brahmachari in 1968.In 2008 Shammi Kapoor was honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to Indian cinema at the Pune International Film Festival (PIFF).
