International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Award ceremony was scheduled to be held for the first time in Bhopal on March 21 and in Indore on March 27-29, however, due to the rest outbreak of coronavirus in India with 31 positive cases being reported, the organisers in consultation with the Madhya Pradesh government has postponed the event until further notice.
The decision was taken keeping the safety of the common people in mind.
“With due regard to the growing concerns around the spread of COVID-19 virus and keeping the health and safety of IIFA’s fans and the general community at large, after consulting the Madhya Pradesh Government, the IIFA management and stakeholders from the film industry, it has been decided to postpone to later date the much-awaited weekend and awards 2020 celebrations,” said IIFA organisers in a statement on March 6th. “

A fresh date and plans for hosting IIFA in Madhya Pradesh will be announced at the earliest,” IIFA organisers stated.
IIFA attracts a large number of Bollywood talents and movie fans from around the globe. A press conference was held yesterday which saw the attendance of Bollywood divas Katrina Kaif , Kartik Aaryan and Dia Mirza. Earlier, the awards show got a grand kick-off with an event in Bhopal on February 3 featuring Salman Kahn, Jacqueline Fernandez and Chief Minister Kamal Nath

IIFA 2020 was supposed to be hosted by Indore-born actors Salman Khan and Ritesh Deshmukh. Gully Boy leads the way with 14 nominations. After this, eight nominations have been given to Kabir Singh and seven to Article 15.
