Salman Khan’s Dabangg 3 failed to meet the expectations at the box office owing to the nationwide protests. Keeping asude critic reviews that have never been much encouring for Salman Khan starrer masala potboilers, the public response was lukewarm. Some of the fans complained that the jokes were not funny enough and the fight sequence were not thrilling enough, Salman’s charisma too fell flat for many. One common complaint was about the length of the movie. Everyone unanimously agreed that the film is too long at 2 hours 42 minutes and so the makers edited 9 minutes of the film that included a song and some comic scenes.

The makers removed around 9 minutes of the film from the second day of its release, that is, from Saturday December 21. All theatres were instructed to play the revised version with immediate effect

According to Bollywood Hungama, out of 9 minutes, approx 8 minutes have been removed from the first half. The song ‘Awara’, featuring Salman Khan and Saiee M Manjrekar was edited out of the film. Also their other song ‘Naina Lade’ was slightly trimmed. Moreover, a few comedy scenes didn’t elicit the desired laughs were chucked out from the revised version.

None of the songs featuring Sonakshi Sinha was axed. Most of the trimming happened in the first half as the audience felt the first half was too stretched and could have been shortened.

Salman and Sudeeps Kicha’s action, power packed climax has all been retained. “The makers now hope that this new and shorter version will create a better impact for the viewers.” said the source to the portal.

Dabangg 3 earned Rs 49.25 crores in two days. Its net collection on the second day was 24.75 crore, tad more than the first. With the third film of the Dabangg franchise, Salman Khan has brought the beloved character of Chulbul Pandey to the big screen.
