Tarnished on the outside, yet beautiful on the inside, Deepika Padukone’s upcoming role as the acid-attack survivor, Laxmi in Chhapaak hits close to home. The movie which is set to go on floor this year will witness one of the most profound physical transformation of Deepika Padukone as the acid attack survivor, Laxmi.
Talking about the upcoming biopic movie, which also marks her debut production, Meghna Gulzar at Lit for Life 2019 event in Chennai, said, “You won’t be seeing Deepika, you know. You will be seeing a disfigured Deepika. There is an uncanny similarity between the survivor and Deepika.â€

The Padmaavat actor has also earlier in December dropped a bomb for her upcoming role on her Instagram post that read “A story of trauma and triumph and the unquashable human spirit.â€Â

Padukone herself, when talking about her role expressed her joy of taking on the challenging role, talking to HT about her Laxmi avatar, Deepika stated, “I am so happy that Deepika is playing the role. I have no right to judge her. How can I judge someone for something which I can’t do. She has played wonderful characters on screen and I believe she will give her best.â€
Meghna has also earlier directed Raazi starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, which was a hit both in the box office, hence, we can raise our head above the water for her upcoming biopic movie, Chhapaak.
The biopic movie will also see Vikrant Massey of Dil Dhadakne Do as Deepika’s partner.
